Roatan 26th-28th October

Hard to believe I know but life on the road can sometimes be a bit tough despite the safety net of not having to drive and always knowing your next destination. So the opportunity for some down time with seafood, snorkelling and cashmere sand on a Caribbean island is one we were very excited for.

We return to the mainland on a Macaw air flight whose 16 passengers are just us. It’s only a short drive to Lake Yojoa where we stayed at D&D Brewery a beautiful jungle retreat with hummingbirds, great craft beers and a mighty fine selection of cocktails. We spend the afternoon kayaking and paddle boarding on the almost deserted lake. Surrounded by lush soaring hills, fringed with fluffy clouds the lake is a beautiful aquatic playground for 5 big kids!! Exhausted after our watery frolics a raspberry beer is in order. That night Brownie and I are part of the winning quiz night team and celebrate with rum and cloudy lemonade lush.

6.45am start as a long day’s drive ahead, saying goodbye to an absolutely beautiful Honduras where the trees soar above us and birds are in abundance. Today we cross the border into country number 6, Nicaragua. There’s a story to this one which will be in the next instalment.
